It's very strange in the context of this post, but I never have trouble writing. I think that's because I have been doing my daily writing exercise on and off for maybe 30 years. The process is described in my October 18 post (frangardner.substack.com). But a version also appears in Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way.” If I can't think of anything to write, I keep my fingers moving on the keyboard regardless. I'll type a word and another word. I do word association. Pretty soon the floodgates open. The result is that I can in 20 minutes come up with a fully formed idea or a plot. I do it day after day. It astonishes and humbles me.

Loved this post, Eleyne, thank you. As a musician, i own a few instruments that I am mesmerised by, but i never thought of writing about them. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
